Civic Engagement (a unit of the Student Engagement and the Division of Student Life) joins the campus community in honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by sponsoring the annual MLK Day of Service and Sunday Supper events. These student-focused, student-led events are key pillars that provide opportunities for dialogue, direct action, and reflection. Information on 2018 Martin Luther King, Jr. celebration are coming soon.
MLK Sunday Supper
As we honor Dr. King's life and legacy, it is important to take time to celebrate and reflect together as a community. The MLK "Sunday" Supper invites the Georgia Tech community to come together over a meal and engage in meaningful dialogue about the 2017 MLK Celebration events and Dr. King's legacy for civil and human rights.
MLK Day of Service
The 8th annual MLK Day of Service continues Dr. King’s legacy by fosters the national holiday’s spirit of “A Day On, Not a Day Off" while also honoring the Georgia Tech motto: "Progress & Service." In honor of Dr. King, volunteers across campus will donate their time to make a difference in the Atlanta community by serving in a variety of service efforts with local community partners. In 2018, we are excited to host several projects with local community partners.
The 2017 MLK Day of Service project sites included Historic Oakland Foundation, The Kindezi, School, Trees Atlanta, West Atlanta Watershed Alliance, and the Westside Atlanta Land Trust.
